Introduction
Most English language learning in Albania begins as early as fifth grade, and in some cases can even begin in third and fourth grade. English is used as a tool in Albania for many purposes. According to Balla (2017) “the student who decides to study English has clearly an instrumental purpose."
English language and education in Albania have increased in the last few decades due to the need for English speakers in many situations. Education of English for the youth is highly stressed because of the rapid advancement of technology. According to Henderson (1931), “There are no words in the Albanian language for the modern implements of agriculture and industry, with young people must learn to work” (p. 48). The youth must reach a standard of English that coincides the expanding infrastructure and agricultural methods within their careers.

CurriculumPopular belief in Albania pertaining to curriculum is that native English speakers must be the ones teaching English so that students acquire a native standard. The education system also hires native speakers so that students can learn about British and American culture. This kind of standard Albanians are expected to acquire is quite unrealistic if Albanians don't plan to visit the U.S. Albanians also often have tendencies to form idealistic associations between America and prosperity because of expectations of life in America.

Albanians are emerging from great economic struggle and are working towards developing their education system to provide citizens with higher standards of living in future years.
